2000s: The Met Gala was not held in 2000 due to a canceled Chanel exhibit and 2002 following the tragic events of 9/11. In 2013, the event became one of the biggest fundraising nights in New York City, raising US$9 million. In 2022, the Met Gala raised $17.4 million. The event was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19.
